Benfica reach agreement with Real Madrid over loan transfer of Mariano Diaz

The 27-year-old, however, is yet to give the green light to the transfer.

Real Madrid and Benfica have agreed terms on a loan deal for Mariano Diaz, according to Portuguese outlet Record (via AS).

Despite 'total agreement' between the clubs, the striker is yet to give the green light to the transfer.

The 27-year-old played just 84 minutes across all competitions last season but is said to be ready to stay and fight for his place at the Bernabeu.

As things stand now, Karim Benzema and Luka Jovic are ahead of Mariano in Zinedine Zidane's pecking order.

If Diaz accepts a loan move to Lisbon, Benfica will have an option to buy him out at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.
