Chelsea denied extra rest ahead of Premier League start despite Champions League involvement

Chelsea will start the next season with the rest of the league at the weekend of September 12.

The Blues will not be given extra rest before the start of the next Premier League season despite the fact that they were involved in the Champions League, the Daily Mail reports.

Unlike Manchester City and Manchester United, Frank Lampard's team will be back in action at the weekend of September 12, as well as the rest of the league.

Chelsea are not the team who have suffered from this decision the most, though: they only played one UCL game against Bayern Munich before their season came to an end.

Wolves, on the other hand, did not only play two Europa League games but they also just ended the longest season in football history that lasted for 383 days.

Still, Chelsea will have less than a month to get ready for the 2020/21 season, and they have already outlined their plans for the next weeks.
