Some reports have claimed that Barry will be in charge defensive training.

Chelsea have confirmed that Anthony Barry, former first-team coach at Wigan, joins Frank Lampard's staff.

The 34-year-old is regarded highly among football professionals, and Frank Lampard is among them as they have done coaching courses together.

‘I’m delighted to welcome Anthony to the club. He’s an exciting young coach and someone I’ve known for a while. I believe he will be a strong addition to the team," Lampard said as quoted by the official Chelsea website.

Reece James is also familiar with this coach after his groundbreaking loan spell at the Latics in the 2018/19 season.

According to some reports, Barry was in charge of defensive tactics at Wigan, and it's something he'll likely be doing at Chelsea as well.
