Ansu is the type of player who marks the difference: Rivaldo speaks on Replaceing Messi at Barcelona.
"Messi will not last forever at Barcelona. That is why the renewal of Ansu Fati with such a high clause and for so many years seems very logical," Rivaldo told Betfair.
"Barcelona needs to prepare for a future without Leo and Ansu is the type of player who marks the difference."
Ansu Fati was officially promoted to the first team earlier this week. The 17-year-old's contract will be automatically extended from 2022 until 2024 after his 18th birthday on October 31.
His release clause will also rise from €170m to €400m. Fati will wear the No. 22 shirt in the 2020/21 season.
Lionel Messi, in turn, is out of contract in 2021 and he doesn't seem keen on extending his current deal with the Catalans.
