Fans to return for live games in UK from October 1 called off

According to the BBC, British MP Michael Gove has confirmed that plans for fans to return to stadiums from October 1 have been put on hold for the time being.

A good majority of the games played this year have been behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in major losses for football clubs.

However, it looks like this could continue in the UK, with prime minister Boris Johnson set to announce a new set of regulations very soon amid fears over the rising number of positive cases.

The report adds that Premier League CEO Richard Masters has hit back at the decision to continue playing behind closed doors, citing economic reasons.

FIFA estimates that football's losses could be near £11 billion due to the financial recession but hopefully, we will have better news soon.
