Manchester United in contact with Barcelona over transfer of Ousmane Dembele.

Man United have contacted Barcelona over taking Ousmane Dembele on a season-long loan deal, according to Duncan Castles of the Daily Record.

The Catalans are only interested in selling the Frenchman for €100m but would be open to his loan exit with an obligatory purchase option.

The 23-year-old, however, is not a fan of the idea of moving to the Premier League.

Barca have to reduce their wage bill by 30 per cent until the October 5 deadline. That's why the Catalans are considering Dembele's sale as he earns €6m per season after-tax at Camp Nou, Castles adds.

The Record's journalist isn't among the most reliable sources at all but Barcelona are indeed in a poor financial state right now.

United's interest in Ousmane, however, is a much more questionable issue.

Castles says that the Red Devils have turned their attention to the Barca winger after their failure to land Jadon Sancho but would United or any other club be willing to pay €100m for Dembele with his injury record? We'd say no.

As a reminder, the 23-year-old hasn't played a competitive game since last November due to his never-ending injury woes.
