Harry Kane happy that Messi staying at Barcelona: He has done us a favour

Harry Kane is relieved that he won't be facing the Argentine next term as he knows what Messi is capable of.

"The Premier League we've got so many amazing players and managers, it would have been great to see the best ever come to play in here," Harry Kane told Daily Express of Lionel Messi.

"I didn't know the whole situation, I know there was a lot of talk of him going to Man City but it didn't happen in the end.

"Obviously the Premier League is in a great place, we've got some of the best players from around the world so I can see how it can be attractive for players.

"Who knows – it might happen in the future. All I know is that he's probably the best ever or one of the best ever to do it.

"I've played against him before and he's truly an incredible player. So it might have done us a favour that he stayed at Barcelona."

The latest encounters between Kane's Tottenham and Barca took place two years ago in the Champions League group stage. The Catalans defeated Spurs 4-2 in North London before drawing the PL side 1-1 at Camp Nou.

Leo scored twice in the first match so no wonder Kane is kind of relieved that he will not have to face the Argentine next season.
