'I am a leader in my own way': Varane ready to take over from Ramos after Manchester City mistakes
City pounced on Varane's errors to dump Madrid out of the Champions League last month.
The Frenchman admits the 2-1 defeat was down to his personal mistakes and refuses to shift the blame.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Raphael Varane said: "I am a leader in my own way. With my team-mates, I talk a lot before matches about tactics and positioning. We each have our own way.
"For sure, that will not remain a very good memory in my career. It was a difficult game for me, this elimination. Immediately after the match I wanted to take responsibility."
The Frenchman was at fault during several episodes against Manchester City in the Champions League last month, struggling in Sergio Ramos' absence.
