John Terry list 3 Chelsea Legends which took the club to ‘another level’ during his playing days

John Terry says that Gianfranco Zola, Ruud Gullit and Gianluca Vialli were very important signings.

He explains that they came in to Chelsea and immediately asked for some positive changes such as a bigger gym and better nutrition.

Terry believes that Chelsea’s culture was bettered due to these 3 players and it’s gone up by several levels since his early playing days.

"We were lucky at Chelsea because we signed Zola, Gullit and Vialli and they turned up at the training ground and said, 'where’s the food, where’s the protein? We need a bigger gym, we need to stretch more',” John Terry said during a conversation on the platform Unacademy.

"They took it to another level and I was really lucky to be around those players at that stage of my career. Gianfranco would get in two hours before anyone else, he would go to the gym for a weight session, he would stretch for two hours after training.

"He would eat the right food and those guys just took it to another level and it’s probably gone on another five or six levels from there to where we are today."

Zola quickly developed into a fans’ favourite at Chelsea and scored 80 goals for the club and starred in two FA Cup wins before returning to Italy. Gullit and Vialli had less successful spells at Stamford Bridge but still managed to endear themselves to Blues fans.

The professionalism and culture at Chelsea today is fantastic and a major reason why the Blues have remained so consistent over the past 2 decades - it seems like we have these 3 former players to thank for kickstarting it all!
