Lampard gives update on Chelsea squad: Mendy not yet ready to start, Pulisic and Ziyech still out

Ziyech and Pulisic have been ruled out for tomorrow.

Chilwell and Thiago Silva are fit enough to start but might be rested tomorrow.

Mendy hasn't trained a lot with the team so he won't be in contention to play.

Speaking ahead of the West Bromwich Albion clash, Frank Lampard said (via Goal): "To start tomorrow, is not going to happen [for Edouard Mendy].

He has had a long week and not really trained. He flew in yesterday and it is too tight of a turnaround to start.

"Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are not ready for the squad tomorrow. They have both been training. We hope to have them in proper match contention in the next week.

"They [Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell] are fit enough to start but we play another game with a pretty tight turnaround on Tuesday."

Lampard is referring to the Carabao Cup fourth-round clash against Tottenham Hotspur, which will take place on September 29.

It's sad to hear that Pulisic and Ziyech are still not fit enough to make an appearance, but we do hope to see Silva or Chilwell in some capacity tomorrow.

As for Mendy, the League Cup tie against Spurs would definitely be a good game for his debut!
