Liverpool monitoring the situation of Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria: Source

The Swiss, however, is unlikely to leave Gladbach in this transfer window.

"I know that Liverpool have their eyes on Zakaria of Monchengladbach," Bild journalist Christian Falk said in an interview with Empire of the Kop.

"This is a very talented player who will hit the market next year. A move to the Premier League is easy for him to imagine."

Denis Zakaria had enjoyed his breakthrough season last term, attracting the attention of Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal. None of the clubs have made a move for the Swiss, though.

Falk is a reliable Bundesliga source, so there is probably some interest in the midfielder from the Reds. Will Liverpool sign him next summer? It all depends on the 23-year-old's performances in the 2020/21 season.

Zakaria is now valued at €40m by Transfermarkt. He's reportedly viewed as a long-term replacement for Jordan Henderson.
