Rafa Benitez react to Chelsea big summer spending: Roman Abramovich is back - Chelsea must deliver

Ex-Chelsea manager points out to the incoming transfer this window.

He adds that Roman has invested in the club and the pressure is now on Lampard to win.

"Roman Abramovich is back, Chelsea must deliver," former manager Rafa Benitez told the Daily Mail.

He explains: "The reality is that they were improving the system [back when he was the manager], Michael Emenalo was doing a good job as director of football, their academy was very good, always winning the FA Youth Cup.

"Now you can see Abramovich is back with his support and they have signed a lot of good players and will be very competitive.

"This year, Chelsea and Manchester United must deliver. They have spent some money in recent years."

The Blues have spent over 200M this transfer window and could be spending a little more as Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is reportedly on his way to Stamford Bridge.

Rafa is right when he says that the pressure is now on Lampard to deliver and the manager knows that.

We're not expecting the treble this season, of course, but a top 3 finish with one trophy should be the minimum aim with this superb squad.
