Real Madrid boss Zidane congratulates Reguilon for Tottenham move and reveals Bale deal yet to be finalized

Zidane believes that Reguilon deserves to be playing for a top side like Spurs.

He insists that negotiations are still going on when it comes to sealing Bale’s return to North London.

When asked about his thoughts on Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale’s moves to Tottenham Hotspur, Zinedine Zidane said: “I firstly want to congratulate him (Reguilon )for the season he just had.

“We have two players for each position and I have two left-backs. I can’t have three or four. So, I wish him the best. He deserves to be with Tottenham and playing.

“Gareth is still a player on our team [until the deal is done]. The issue has yet to be closed, we are not going to talk about things that do not make sense. Now there are negotiations. I know what Gareth has done in this team.

In the end, these things can happen. The only thing I can say is that it is not signed. No one is going to discuss what he has done. If now there's a change for him, just wish him well.”

Well, it seems like some final details are yet to be ironed out before Bale can officially become a Spurs player.

Real Madrid have already given his jersey to Marco Asensio for this season, so it’s kind of obvious at this point that the deal is virtually done anyhow.

While Zidane seems to be a bit gutted to lose Reguilon, Los Blancos have inserted a buy-back option that allows them to re-sign him in the next few years if needed – so the entire transfer operation with Spurs seems to be a win-win for Madrid.
