Suarez's transfer to Juventus reportedly delayed due to passport issue

The Uruguayan isn't considered as a European by Italian law even though his wife comes from this country.

Luis Suarez hasn't yet officially joined Juventus because of a passport issue, Gazzetta dello Sport reveal.

The striker isn't considered as an EU citizen in Italy even though his wife is Italian.

It isn't the case in Spain where the rules are less strict.

The 33-year-old should either pass an exam to get Italian citizenship or apply for Spanish citizenship.

Juventus don't want to have another non-European player as there are just three non-EU spots in the squad in Serie A.

Meanwhile, Barca's stance could also delay the transfer as the Catalans haven't yet terminated Suarez's contract, as per RAC1.

As for the Bianconeri, they view the striker highly as they are ready to match his €10m wages he is currently earning at Barca.
