Timo Werner can't break into Liverpool front three: Jamie Carragher

Timo Werner was linked with a move to Liverpool for a long while but ended up at Chelsea instead.

Jamie Carragher shares thoughts on whether the Reds would regret missing out on the forward.

"Right now, he wouldn't get in the Liverpool front three," the iconic Anfield centre-back told Sky Sports. "Watching him for Leipzig, you think about how much he loves that left channel.

"For Liverpool, you think of the greatest striker in the Premier League in Thierry Henry - who used to favour that left-hand side. He can play left of the front three, but predominantly, he will be the central striker."

On Monday, Werner made his Premier League debut for Chelsea in a 3-1 win over Brighton. The 24-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch and even earned a penalty in the first half.

The next game is going to be important for Werner as Chelsea and Liverpool will go head to head at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, September 20. Follow us on Google newsTwitter and on Facebook
