Barcelona promised to continue Depay pursue in January transfer window

The Catalans can get Depay for free next summer but it seems like they want him earlier than that.

Barcelona had an agreement in place with Lyon over the transfer of Memphis Depay for €5m fixed plus €10m in variables, Esport3's reputable Oriol Domenech reports.

However, La Liga didn't register him as it would have exceeded the salary limit at the club.

The Catalans have promised Depay they will sign him in January, with Ronald Koeman really wanting the player.

Memphis would serve as the replacement for Luis Suarez, with Martin Braithwaite being the only nominal striker at the club right now.
