Braithwaite honoured and delighted on being named Barca's new No.9

Braithwaite is happy to join the list of the Blaugrana legends donning the iconic shirt.

The striker adds that simply wearing the badge is special for him.

"I’m really honoured and proud. So many great players have worn that number in the past," Martin Braithwaite tweeted when asked on his feelings after being handed Barcelona's No.9 jersey.

The Dane added: "But wearing the badge of Barcelona will always be special for me."

The 29-year-old is Barca's new No.9 after Luis Suarez left for Atletico Madrid and the club failed to sign a new striker.

Braithwaite hasn't made a single appearance this season, mostly due to a muscle injury he sustained just days before the start of the La Liga campaign.
