Chelsea boss Lampard criticised for letting Lamptey leave for Brighton

Ex-Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson believes that Lampard should've blocked the 20-year-old's exit from the Bridge.

“I look at the young lad Lamptey they sold to Brighton, who has impressed me hugely,” Alan Hudson told CaughtOffside.

“I would have kept him as he is most definitely one for the future.

“He has been outstanding at Brighton since lockdown. He’s quick at turning defence into attack, which is something Chelsea lack – real pace with quality at the end of it.

“I think Frank Lampard got this one wrong.”

Tariq Lamptey left the Blues for the Seagulls back in January and has had a promising start to life at his new club. The 20-year-old right-back rejected a contract extension from Chelsea to leave in search of more regular playing time.
