The gaffer is thrilled at the prospect of witnessing Pulisic evolve into a top winger at Chelsea.
Lampard is hoping to use the two-week international break to build up his fitness levels and get him fit for the upcoming games.
Speaking about Christian Pulisic after his return to action for Chelsea against Crystal Palace, Frank Lampard said (as quoted by Daily Mail): “I think Christian had a breakthrough season for us in the goals and assists, the highest he has made in his career.
“So I think we are all excited about the levels Christian can go to. He had a bad injury. It was a grade two hamstring, which is difficult to come back from.
“He is champing at the bit and desperate to get back in the team. We managed to get 10 minutes today and we really want these next two weeks to be a real-time to build up his fitness and get him ready for the next two games. He has earned the number 10 shirt for how he has played.”
Of course, there will be big expectations from Pulisic this season after the way he played last time around and the fact that he’s inherited Eden Hazard’s number!
The American winger’s injury last season did hinder his progress a bit. But as long as he can stay fit for the entirety of this season, Pulisic should create special things and take our attacking might to a whole new level.
