Depay describe how Barcelona star De Jong's impact on the Netherlands' play: 'The engine of our game'

The Netherlands face Bosnia & Herzegovina on Sunday evening and Memphis Depay says that the midfielder impact is crucial for the national side.

Frenkie de Jong is the engine of the Netherlands' play, he explains.

"We [the Netherlands] have to build up a connection again. The midfield is decisive in the football that we play. That's where the connection with the attack is made," Memphis Depay has told the media ahead of the Nations League game against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

"Normally you have Frenkie de Jong in the midfield. In all honesty: Frenkie is the engine of our game," the forward concluded.

Under Ronald Koeman's assistant coach Dwight Lodeweges, Frenkie de Jong played a central midfielder in the 4-3-3 formation. At Barca, Koeman exploits him as a defensive midfielder in a double-pivot scheme.

Frankie didn't look good in Barcelona's first games of the season. Against Sevilla, he lost 11 balls and managed zero key passes.
