"Jose Mourinho thought that I wasn't at the same level as my team-mate": Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas

Casillas feuded with Mourinho during the Portuguese's time at Madrid. The legendary goalkeeper doesn't have any hard feelings towards the manager.

Speaking at a TELMEX Telcel Foundation event, Iker Casillas said: "Jose Mourinho thought that I wasn't at the same level as my team-mate and, on top of that, our relationship wasn't very good.

"There are a lot of things that people don't see, but I have a good relationship with him [now]. We've seen each other a few times since and we've had a nice chat. There are no hard feelings between us.

"Both of us wanted the best for the team. I didn't like a lot of the things I was seeing and he chose to pick another keeper. This experience made me much more mature, at the age of 33."

Casillas was benched by Mourinho during the Portuguese's time at Real Madrid for allegedly getting to close with some Barcelona players.

The Spaniard officially announced his retirement in the summer at the age of 39, 14 months after suffering an unfortunate heart-attack.

The goalkeeper is now hoping to seal a return to Madrid and work as part of Zinedine Zidane's coaching staff at the Bernabeu.
