Koeman confirms Barcelona still in search for a striker and a defender before October 5 deadline

Barcelona could sign Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay in the following days.

"Depay? There are two positions in the team where we could use one more player: the centre-back and the centre-forward positions," Ronald Koeman said on Saturday.

"There is a competition but we are going to play a lot of games. It would help us to have one more per position."

Earlier the same day, the Barcelona boss confirmed the club's interest in Man City centre-back Eric Garcia. Koeman, however, is not sure if Barca can sign the 19-year-old before the October 5 deadline due to the financial situation at Camp Nou.

Memphis Depay, meanwhile, remains the Catalans' prime target to replace Luis Suarez.

As things stand now, Barca have to offload the likes of Samuel Umtiti, Jean-Clair Todibo and Rafinha first to raise funds for Garcia and Depay.
