Lyon's president Aulas says that Depay is disappointed with Barca for not signing him.
He says that Koeman has insisted that the Catalans keep pursuing Memphis.
"Since the beginning, I have been clear with Memphis Depay. I spoke with Barcelona's president Bartomeu twice, he told me he couldn’t see how the transfer could happen. I know that Ronald Koeman made him continue to hope and that Memphis was ready to make sacrifices [to join them]," Get French Football News quote Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas saying.
"Today, he is disappointed, but not with Lyon, more with Barcelona. He is going to do everything he can to move there in January.
"I have not abandoned the idea of extending his contract, but as he has always said no, it looks difficult."
Previous reports say that Barca already have an agreement in place with Depay. Moreover, Blaugrana reportedly agreed with Lyon over a transfer for €5m fixed plus €10m in variables but La Liga refused to register the player as Barca would have exceeded the salary limit.
In the end, Ousmane Dembele's refusal to join Manchester United made Depay's move impossible
