Revealed: Barcelona still was unable to afford Depay even after Lyon drop price

The French side were ready to part ways with the Dutch striker for just €20m but the Catalans needed to sell Dembele first.

According to highly reliable De Telegraaf, Lyon agreed to lower Memphis Depay's price to facilitate his transfer to Barcelona on the transfer deadline day.

The Ligue 1 side were asking for 'mere' €20m instead of the €25m they had been previously demainding.

Nevertheless, Barca were unable to afford this move because of Ousmane Dembele's unwillingness to leave

Before landing Depay, the Catalans had to sell the Frenchman first and Manchester United were really keen on him.
