Griezmann is the future of Barcelona, Messi won't last forever: Giroud

Giroud is confident that Griezmann will triumph at Barca but it's going to take him some time to adapt.

Playing in the same position as Messi doesn't help it either, Olivier claims.

"It is clear that Antoine Griezmann did not choose the easy path signing for such a big club as Barcelona," Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud has told RMC Sport. "That is a step forward in his career.

"Can anyone deny it? I understand it perfectly. But of course, adapting at a new club isn't easy, especially when you play next to a huge player like Leo Messi and more or less in the same position as him.

"It may take longer than usual, but I'm sure he will make it. I don't worry about him, there are a lot of talented players at Barca. You just have to find the magic formula. It's a great challenge but he is capable of handling it. Also, he is the future of the club because Messi will not last forever."

Griezmann hasn't had the best start of the 2020/21 season. Ronald Koeman is using the 29-year-old on the right wing, a position that doesn't suit him according to Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team.

Although Griezmann contributes a lot defensively, his involvement in attack has been almost inexistent.
