Alexander Iwobi’s life is testament to the determination and sheer will that most Nigerians exhibit. He was born on May 3, 1996 to Chuba Iwobi in Lagos.

Two years later,  young Iwobi moved along with his family to Turkey.

The family later moved to the United Kingdom to be with former Super Eagles maestro Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha.

Yes, Iwobi is actually related to the legendary Nigerian player through his mother who is siblings with Okocha.

Iwobi spent most of his childhood in Newham, an East London community near Bolton Wanderers, where his uncle Okocha played.

He joined English Premier League side Arsenal  aged eight and soon faced the task of handing school alongside footballing practice.
