Blackburn boss provides reassuring update after Harvey Elliott picks up knee injury in Preston game

The 17-year-old does not appear to have suffered damage to his knee ligaments.

Harvey Elliott picked up a knee injury during Blackburn's Championship game against Preston.

The Liverpool loanee was subbed on after the 60-minute mark and helped his current team score their third goal in a 3-0 victory.

However, he was forced off the pitch in the 80th minute after a strong challenge from Preston midfielder Ryan Ledson.

"When you think of a knee injury you think of ligaments but it doesn’t seem to be anything like that. Just a pretty severe kick and we’re hoping that’s all it is," Blackburn head coach Tony Mowbray said after the game.

So far, there is no news as to how serious the injury is and when Elliott will be able to be back on the pitch.

The 17-year-old has already become an important player for the Rovers, having made 8 appearances in the league and scoring his first goal in professional football.
