Christian Pulisic leaves United States team camp to work on fitness with Chelsea

Head coach Gregg Berhalter has apparently decided not to risk the 22-year-old in the two friendly games.

Christian Pulisic leaves the training camp of his national side and returns to Chelsea to continue his recovery, the official Twitter account of the United States' team confirms.

Earlier, head coach Gregg Berhalter described Pulisic's status as 'day-to-day', but it's now clear that he won't feature in either of two friendlies scheduled for this international break.

“Christian is a big part of our group. He has been working through an injury, but it really says a lot that he wanted to come into the camp, be around the guys and continue to be a leader with this team,” Berhalter said in a statement.

Christian Pulisic suffered a hamstring injury in the warm-up before the Burnley game on October 31. Frank Lampard stated that the 22-year-old had a 'very minor injury', but the winger is yet to return to the pitch.
