Fans to return to Premier League stadiums from December 2

The UK Government has authorised the return of football fans to the stadiums from December 2, as per The Athletic.

The maximum number of fans allowed to the stands differs depending on the restrictions in the local areas.

Stadiums in locations with tier 1 lockdown restrictions can host up to 4,000 supporters, while those under tier 2 restrictions will welcome up to 2,000 fans.

However, the stadiums in locations under tier 3 restrictions will still not be allowed to have any fans.

Prime minister Boris Johnson is expected to put London under tier 2 restrictions - which means 2,000 Chelsea fans might be able to visit Stamford Bridge for the Leeds game on December 5, the first home game under the new regulations.

London and all the other regions of England are expected to learn which tier they will be in on Thursday.
