Pepe: 'No excuses for my red card. I am deeply sorry'

Nicolas Pepe has released a statement via Instagram regarding his red card against Leeds.

"Yesterday I have let my team down at a crucial time of the game and there are no excuses for my behaviour," he wrote.

"I am deeply sorry and would like to apologise to the fans, my team-mates, my coach and everyone else at the club."

The Ivorian fell for Alioski's provocations and headbutted the Leeds player, leaving the Gunners one man down at Elland Road five minutes into the second half.

Mikel Arteta said the forward's actions were "unacceptable". Pepe is facing a three-match ban in the Premier League but will be available for the Europa League games, leaving it up to Arteta whether he wants to punish him or not.

While we're obviously unhappy with Nicolas' actions, you have to give him credit for going public with his apology.
