Premier League stadiums could have fans back by Christmas

The Premier League is hopeful of having fans in stadiums by Christmas.

Despite the increasing outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK and recent lockdown measures announced by the government, fans could get to watch games in person very soon, according to ESPN.

The source claims the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport had a meeting with key figures from the Premier League, the Football Association, the English Football League, the Professional Footballers' Association and other organisations on Tuesday.

The meeting was meant to discuss a rescue package for lower league clubs at risk of COVID-19-related bankruptcy.

Secretary of State Oliver Dowden is said to have told clubs in the meeting that he is trying to get fans back in stadiums as soon as the nation's most recent lockdown ends on December 2nd.

It is unclear how the process would work, and what percentage of stadiums clubs would be allowed to fill.
