Solskjaer has now overseen four defeats already this term, with the 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir coming after previous scalps against Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Arsenal.

It’s claimed ‘they respect him and the coaching sessions’ but, unfortunately for the Norwegian, that might not be enough for him to stay put.

United have sounded out Pochettino about taking over at Old Trafford and could turn to the Argentine, who revealed he was available during an appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football earlier in the week.

United have already gone through three managers since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

The Red Devils hired David Moyes and after Moyes, came Louis van Gaal before then turning to Jose Mourinho.

But Mourinho was relieved of his duties in December 2018 and Solskjaer has been in charge ever since, initially on an interim basis before getting the job full time in March 2019.
