Barcelona reportedly ready to sell part of off-the-field business to investors amid financial troubles
Barcelona is pitching investors on buying parts of their off the field business as they have been severely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bloomberg report.
The club is ready to carve out its digital assets, football academies across the globe, sports knowledge group and merchandising business into a new entity.
Then, Barca would reportedly sell 30% to 49% interest in the new entity.
It would be the first time the Catalans sell part of their club to outside investors, as Blaugrana is a club owned exclusively by fans.
However, Bloomberg add that the club members would have to approve such a deal first.
The club's financial troubles have been brought by the pandemic, their excessive salary bill and transfer expenditures.
