Cesc Fabregas, Jack Wilshere & 7 more players who scored for Arsenal in Premier League before turning 19

Arsenal are well-known for giving their young players a chance. Our young players are well-known for rewarding that faith. We look at 9 outstanding players who found the back of the net for Gunners before celebrating their 19th birthday.

1. Nicolas Anelka (November 9, 1997, vs Man United)

The Frenchman stayed for only 2,5 seasons after joining from Paris Saint-Germain in February 1997 but managed 80 appearances over that period.

His debut goal came in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Man United - it was the opening goal too.

2. Cesc Fabregas (August 25, 2004, vs Blackburn)

It took Cesc a full year to make his debut but boy did he introduce himself to English football.

The youngster was just 17 (if you know what I mean) in 2004, however, he became key to Arsenal's midfield straight away and made 33 league appearances in 2004/05.

Cesc played a total of 304 games for the Gunners and remains the only PL player to score for us before turning 18.

3. Theo Walcott (February 23, 2008, vs Birmingham)

The Englishman joined 1,5 years earlier but went on to become one of Arsenal's longest-serving players.

Theo ended up just 2 games shy of 400 appearances for the Gunners - and 3 days short of staying in North London for 12 years.

4. Aaron Ramsey (August 22, 2009, vs Portsmouth)

Another long-serving Gunner with a massive output: the Welshman has 130 goals and assists in 371 games for Arsenal.

He stayed for 8,5 years and it was almost enough to better Walcott in terms of sheer numbers but it's not what we'll remember Aaron for.

5. Jack Wilshere (November 27, 2010, vs Aston Villa)

The Englishman should have been the next Tony Adams: he lived and breathed Arsenal just like out timeless captain.

Unfortunately, Jacky ended up just 2 games shy of 200 appearances for the Gunners as injury problems derailed his career. At 29, he's currently a free agent.

6. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (February 4, 2012, vs Blackburn)

Amazingly, the Ox ended up on exactly the same number of games as Jack Wilshere: 198. Much less amazingly, he too was hampered by injuries throughout his Arsenal career - and they are not letting up at Liverpool either.

We are sad he's suffered such fate but Alex could never nail down a spot in the XI and a clearly-defined position, so taking £40m for him was the right decision.

7. Serge Gnabry (September 28, 2013, vs Swansea)

Oh we remember that marauding run and goal fine well. We also remember his awful time at West Brom and desire to get out of Arsenal.

Sometimes it just doesn't work out for a player at a certain club. Serge is now lighting it up at Bayern and we are fine with that. Well done, mate.

8. Gabriel Martinelli (December 9, 2019, vs West Ham)

He scored that "I've had enough of this sh*t" goal to gift interim Freddie Ljungberg his only win during a short spell at Arsenal's helm.

The best is yet to come for the Brazilian, we are sure: he looks a generational talent with a brilliant mentality.

9. Bukayo Saka (July 4, 2020, vs Wolves)

The opening goal in a tough away game meant Saka finally added goals to his assists galore in a breathtaking debut season.

The Englishman has grown into our key player fast over the last year and we are just happy he's signed a long-term deal. He looks every bit as special as Martinelli.
