Chelsea Hint On Aggressive Formation Tuchel Will Deploy

Chelsea Formation Tuchel Deploy

Thomas Tuchel was confirmed as the new Chelsea boss on Tuesday afternoon, replacing Frank Lampard – and was taking training within half an hour.

The German has a big task ahead, with the London side asking Tuchel to qualify for Europe’s elite tournament – sitting 11 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United.

But Chelsea have hinted on their website at an aggressive formation the 47-year-old will use to get the Blues firing again.

In a profile of Tuchel, his comments on formations emerged with a preference for “attack-minded football with pace going forward”.

He said: “I prefer certain qualities – an active playing style, bold defending and pacey play in attack.”

The report states that Tuchel likes to keep his sides “tactically flexible”, adapting the set-up to the strengths of the opposition.

But the former PSG boss was using a 4-3-3 formation during the last days of his reign at Le Parc des Princes – the same set up that Lampard had been using primarily.

Also, the new Blues manager is known for making his side get involved in “counter-pressing” when out of possession.
