Chelsea To Deduct Months Pay From Lampard’s Severance

Frank Lampard will get just six months’ severance pay after being sacked on Monday

The axing came just 18 months after announcing the 42-year-old had signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge – and the Blues will have to cough up around £2million as a result.

But according to the Telegraph, the deal was actually two years with the option of an additional year.

And as the West Londoners were yet to trigger the extension they are only liable for the remaining six months after letting him go.

Chelsea announced Lampard’s appointment in July 2019 and he is said to have been earning around £4m-a-year.

Lampard managed 57 Premier League matches with a record of 1.67 points per game, the worst of any Stamford Bridge boss during Roman Abramovich’s 18-year era.

He departed with the club five points off the top four and still in both the Champions League and FA Cup, beating Luton in his final game in charge.

But Abramovich had seen enough and pulled the trigger – with Thomas Tuchel now replacing him in the dugout.
