'I'm determined to work hard and change this' : Willian

Willian has been one of the main disappointments this season: brought in as an experienced option to push Nico Pepe to improve, the Brazilian has failed badly so far.

The opening day performance vs Fulham aside, Willian has been woeful and recently lost his place in the XI. He can't name one factor behind the dip in form but promises to improve.

"To be honest sometimes poor form can be difficult to explain. The first game was great for me, against Fulham, I felt I had a good performance and gave two assists. And then, I don’t know," he told Arsenal's Matchday Programme.

"I’m always trying to do my best, sometimes things don’t go the way you want. You have to say it’s a part of football and a part of life. Sometimes you have good moments, other times you have bad moments, you have to learn from that.

"And right now, I know I’m far away from being at my best, but I’m determined to work hard and change this."

To be honest, we are highly suspicious he is giving an interview to our official matchday programme right before the Palace game. We are hoping Willian won't start the game because he has been dreadful again vs Newcastle in the cup.

Bukayo Saka is doing a marvellous job on the right, Emile Smith Rowe is pulling the strings through the middle and both Gabi Martinelli and Auba on the left are capable of better than Willian, even if they had one leg each.

We guess Arteta will try hard to make it work for Willian because we signed him on massive wages for 3 years but unless the Brazilian shows marked improvement between now and the summer, we'd be all for selling him off.
