Messi on his game play: 'I'm trying to be more of a passer'

Speaking to ESPN about how he’s grown as a footballer, Lionel Messi said: “I have grown enormously as a player.

“Today, I move back a little more behind, I try not to be satisfied with playing in the last third of the field.

“I'm trying to be more of a passer, to control the rhythm and the tempo of the match. I no longer have the acceleration of yesteryear, but I still manage to create danger.”

Messi is expected to play in the no.10 role for PSG and will be given the freedom to dictate the tempo of the game for the Parisians.

The Argentine is yet to make his full debut for the Ligue 1 side and is likely to do so in PSG’s first Champions League game of the season against Club Brugge next week.
