Pat Nevin issues a 'danger' warning to Chelsea FC ahead of their trip to Brentford.

Pat Nevin gives a warning to Chelsea FC as they prepare for their Saturday night match against Brentford.

Pat Nevin has cautioned Chelsea FC about the "risk" that Brentford poses ahead of the Blues' Premier League journey across London on Saturday evening.

After a good start to the season, the Champions League holders enter into the encounter with a one-point lead over second-placed Liverpool FC.

Chelsea FC has won five of its seven Premier League games so far this season, and will be looking to be one of the title contenders this season.

Brentford have had a fantastic start to life in the English Premier League following their promotion, and the Bees are currently in seventh place in the table, just four points behind the leaders.

The newly-promoted side has had some great home results, including a 2-0 win over Arsenal and a dramatic 3-3 draw with Liverpool FC, as well as a 2-1 triumph over West Ham United last time out.

Former Chelsea FC player Nevin has warned the Blues that they cannot afford to take Brentford's threat lightly as they prepare for their next match.

"Brentford add yet another London Premier League derby to an already decent-sized list, as if Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham and Crystal Palace weren't enough!" Nevin wrote in his column for Chelsea FC's website.

“I'm never sure if I should include Watford here, but it never felt like a true London derby when I was there.

"Brentford may not be an unknown quantity any longer, but they are surely less well-known than the others, posing a distinct threat.

“We won't take them lightly, but Arsenal and West Ham didn't either. Nonetheless, the top-tier newcomers stunned their more well-known opponents by winning all six points.

The Bees exude a joyful exuberance that is contagious. With their fearless style of play, I'm not ashamed to admit that I root for them to win most weeks, but not this one!"

Chelsea FC last played Brentford in the FA Cup fourth round in January 2017, with the Blues winning 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in front of their home crowd.

Since a match in Division One in March 1947, the two teams have not played in the league.
