Akpejiori’s Latest Knockout Victory Takes Him Closer To Tyson Fury

The latest stunning victory by USA-based Nigerian boxer, Raphael Akpejiori has sensationally taken him one step closer to a possible title challenge with World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury.

This comes after Akpejiori stormed to another ruthless knockout victory, following which he went on to restate his intention to challenge Britain’s Fury any time soon.

Megasportsarena.com gathered that Akpejiofri’s potential soared after he extended his record to 13 knockouts in 13 victories, all inside two rounds.

His latest night of glory came when he stopped Santander Silgado in the opening round of their bout in Miami, USA on Saturday night.

Akpejiori now aims to earn a world title fight by next year and he jolly well could get that dream come true if he continues his explosive progress.

He revealed how his ultimate ambition would be a showdown with Fury, who he believes he was monitored well enough and has learned how to whip from his experiences against similar fighters.

The Miami-based Akpejiori, who is trained by former world champion, Glen Johnson, declared emphatically would welcome the opportunity to test Fury’s punch resistance early in 2022.

Akpejiori told Sky Sports about Fury: “He is the man at the top and my goal is to go to the top. He’s been doing this for a long time.

“I’ve been doing this for a good part of five years. I’m learning a lot over the course of time. I believe that when I get there, when I get to fighting him, I will beat him.

“It would be very stupid for me to go in there and start gassing myself with power punches, knowing the man in front of me is a Terminator.

“I’ll work for another knockdown and hopefully I’ll get three or four knockdowns in a row. I have to stop him on his back or even on his feet, then I can raise my hand in victory.

“If I ever knocked Tyson Fury down, I will keep boxing like it’s the start of the round. The Terminator will be beaten, that’s what I’m saying.” Bimbo Adeola
