Liverpool Midfielder Harvey Elliott Resumes Light Training

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has returned to light training as he steps up his recovery from a dislocated ankle.

The 18-year-old has been out of action since picking up the serious injury in a game against Leeds United back in September. The blow halted Elliott's fine start to the season, with the youngster enjoying three Premier League starts before getting injured.

His recovery has been immense though, and on Monday he was pictured resuming light training at Liverpool's AXA Training Centre. Elliot was shown in the gym and even more encouragingly he was also able to conduct a light jog on grass.

"It is nice to see him smiling the whole day and working hard. He will be back, but how soon I don’t know."

News of Elliott's steady progress will be music to Liverpool fans' ears with the club enduring an injury crisis in midfield prior to the international break.

Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara all spent time on the sidelines last month and although they have since recovered, the near ever-present Jordan Henderson was recently forced to withdraw from the England squad after picking up a knock of his own.

Klopp will want as many of his midfielders fit as the Reds have some important games coming up. They kick off after the international break with a match against Arsenal, before taking on FC Porto and Southampton. This is followed by a Merseyside Derby to kick off December.

Earlier this month Jurgen Klopp had praised the youngster for his hard work in recovery, saying: "He’s great, Harvey’s great. I have no idea when exactly it’ll be, but we can’t wait actually. It looks really good.

"Whichever person you speak to from the rehab department, you hear that he is so determined, he is really very positive all the time with us here.
