Scholes: 'Carrick, McKenna and Phelan should be sacked. Like Ole, they let United down'

Speaking on BT Sport before the Villarreal game, Paul Scholes said: "The Liverpool result was when we knew Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was going to go. The people above had to prepare the next manager, the next batch of staff.

"I would be embarrassed being on the staff now, they all should have gone, sacked or gone off their own back. Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Mike Phelan have let the club down as much as Ole has."

As things stand, Carrick, McKenna and Phelan will remain at Manchester United until the Red Devils decide on the appointment of an interim manager for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.
