Gerard Pique has told Xavi and Joan Laporta that he plans to retire at the end of the season, as per El Nacional.
However, the 34-year-old will stay for one more season if Xavi needs him.
Pique could also negotiate a new contract with the minimum allowed salary in La Liga – the same thing Dani Alves has done.
The centre-back was heavily criticised amid his Bayern Munich outing. Against Osasuna, the Blaugrana veteran also wasn't at his own best.
Pique has made 585 appearances for the Catalans, scoring 52 goals and providing 13 assists.
