Ex Real Madrid and Man City star Robinho sentenced to 9 years in prison for rape

Former Real Madrid and Manchester City forward Robinho has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for rape by an Italian court.

The Court of Cassation in Rome has rejected an appeal from the ex-Brazil international relating to the the incident that allegedly occurred in 2013.

The 37-year-old, who last played for Santos, has continually rejected claims that he took part in a gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman at the Sio Cafe in Milan.

Meanwhile, Brazilian constitution prevents the extradition of criminals. Therefore, Italy will send an appeal to Brazilian courts to try to get Robinho to serve his sentence in his home country
