Fabio Capello: 'Footballers who don't get the vaccine should see his salary reduced

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, legendary Italian manager Fabio Capello said: "Not getting the vaccine is an act of selfishness and if police officers are obliged to do so, I don't see why footballers should be excluded.

"Those [footballers] who don't get the vaccine cause damage to society and should see his salary reduced. Those who are vaccinated contract the virus in a lighter way and don’t take as long to recover."

Serie A will resume later this week following a winter break amid rising Covid-19 cases in Italy as the Omicron variant continues to spread across Europe.

For what it's worth, the Italian top-flight has one of the highest vaccination rates in European football with 98% of players and staff getting the jab.
