Mendy moved to one of Britain's grimmest jails, he's charged with seven counts of rape

Disgraced Manchester City full-back Benjamin Mendy has been moved to 'a high security prison', according to The Sun.

The France international, who is accused of SEVEN counts of rape, is now being held in Strangeways Prison in Manchester, a top-security facility.

Mendy, along with his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, was previously held Liverpool's Altcourse prison. A Category B facility, it's said to be nothing like the Category A Strangeways.

A source told The Sun: "He won't know what's hit him coming from Altcourse, which is a privately run prison. It's one of the toughest jails in the country. His other problem will be the amount of Manchester United fans in there.

"They will be screaming his name for weeks so he won't be getting much sleep, especially as he’s charged with sex offences. There are a lot of Man City fans there as well, but even the most avid will struggle to protect an alleged sex offender."
