Paul Scholes believes Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino are ideal candidates for the Man United managerial role and Both managers have previously been linked with the United job, with Conte initially backed to succeed Solskjaer According to Scholes.

Ralf Rangnick is not the perfect person to take the Red Devils to the next level Man United icon Paul Scholes has revealed his top two choices to replace Ralf Rangnick as the club's permanent manager.

United are shopping for a long-term manager who will take over at the helm of the club at the end of the ongoing season.

Ralf Rangnick is currently holding brief on an interim basis after he succeeded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was sacked after a run of poor results.

A number of top names have since been floated for the Old Trafford role, with fans facing an anxious wait to see who will be named the new boss.

Scholes has now voiced his opinion on who should be hired, naming Antonio Conte and Mauricio Pochettino as ideal candidates.

Both Conte and Pochettino are currently attached, with the former taking up the Tottenham Hotspur job after the sacking of Nuno Espirito.

"Conte at Tottenham or Pochettino. I think one of those is the manager we want," Scholes told the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel when asked who he views as the ideal replacement for Rangnick.

"We know that Conte is up there with [Pep] Guardiola, [Jurgen] Klopp and [Thomas] Tuchel. We know that, that’s a given. So I think Man United should be looking for someone like that," he added.

Conte, who had no job before Spurs came calling was initially linked with the United job before his move to north London. On his part, Pochettino, who is currently with Paris Saint-Germain has been a long-term target for the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Rangnick has not arrested United's poor form, with the club currently staging lackluster performance.

The German boss suffered his first defeat on the eve of the new year when his charges lost 1-0 to Wolves in the Premier League.
