Croatia international defender Gvardiol has been on Chelsea's radar as a replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who is leaving Chelsea as a free agent for Real Madrid next month.
24Sata says Gvardiol's dad Timohir flew to London to discuss a possible summer move with Blues manager Thomas Tuchel.
Ex-Dinamo Zagreb star Gvardiol, 20, has won ten caps for Croatia.
Chelsea began scouting the young defender after a superb Euros last summer.
