"Lewandowski Is Under Contract': Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeness On Lewandowski's Potential Move

Uli Hoeness, Bayern Munich's president, has elected to point fingers at the Catalans and their economic problems when asked about Robert Lewandowski's rumoured transfer to Camp Nou.

"In Germany, Barça would be bankrupt. Six months ago they had a debt of €1.3b," he said.

"Lewandowski is under contract. At the moment, no one at Bayern will let Lewandowski leave the club. We have not found a replacement so far, so our opinion is clear.

"Lewandowski can stay and he could play well and he could still feel comfortable in Germany with his family, maybe he will come in January and say: 'Wow, I like Bayern, maybe I'll stay two or three more years!'"

The Polish striker's contract with Bayern ends in 2023 and he declared openly he won't extend it. Barcelona is said to be interested in trying to sign him this summer but the German side categorically rules out selling him.
