"Man United will not play the Champions League next season," Erik ten Hag stated ahead of his flight to Manchester.
"Painful for United, but also me. It's a competition I'm going to miss incredibly.
"But the fact that I'm going to work in the Premier League makes up for a lot."
Ajax punched way above their weight in the Champions League under Ten Hag who was the architect of the side that reached the semi-final in the 2018/19 season.
Now, his task will be to bring the biggest European club competition back to Old Trafford as Man United has missed out on the top four in the Premier League this term.
